Edward “Ted” K. Dell’Abate, a native of Pound Ridge and founder of Phaedrus Technologies in Manhattan, died on Feb. 12 after a brief battle with cancer. He most recently worked at Bridgewater Associates in Westport, Conn.
In response to his death, the fundraising campaign was started for his infant daughter, Matilda, who is 9-months old. In one weekend, more than $3,000 was raised.
“Ted was overcome after a very brief battle with stage IV bile duct cancer. We will miss him every day but his legacy and love will live on in Matilda. Every moment we spent with him was precious, although the time was much too short.”
According to his family, "Ted spent most of his adult life on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and many years in his 'happy place', New Orleans, where he was the 'Mayor of Jazz Fest'. Ted was a wonderful storyteller, self-taught cook, jazz enthusiast and continuously lived life to the fullest. He was a loyal husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."
There will be a celebration of Ted’s life from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 at Cassidy Flynn Funeral Home in Mount Kisco. A burial service for family will be held on the following day at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those interested in donating on GoFundMe can do so here.
